I've been doing Graphic Design since the early 80's - both as an employee of MPB Communications, and as a freelance artist.
As part of MPB, I've had the opportunity to explore many types of projects - from simple desktop publishing, to web design and management, to 4-color brochures and ads, to over-sized trade show booth artwork....
The freelance work has been a bit more exotic - or playful - artwork for a childrens cds, small-run business cards, logos and brochures for my kids' school...
I like good design, and I aim to please - always taking my work one step further than was expected. My work is clean and tasteful, and is not finished until (first) the customer is happy with it, and (second) I am happy with it.
A little about myself
I am a single mom with three kids: 13-year-old Boy-Girl twins, and a 10-year-old daughter. I live in Dorion, a 5-minute car ride off the island of Montreal.
As an employee of MPB Communications, I have a 30-hr work week which provides a nice balance between work and home.
I have a Bachealor of Fine Arts from Concordia University, specializing in Graphic Design - but that was when we used to have to count characters, and send type to a typesetter. The programs I use are self-taught, both through trial & error, and with the help of books, the web, and Total Training dvds.
Why Zudies? I was set when I started to have a .com, and in my searches through Google, I discovered judypaul.com - a graphic designer in Texas!
We send each other an email every now and then - but how strange to have someone with the same name, doing the same stuff - even, at one point, making T-Shirts & Pillows as a side-line craft!
Zudies (pronounced zoo-dees) was a pet name an old boyfriend gave me, and I liked it enough to think it should be of some use - but I've heard it pronounced zud-ees just a few too many times....
How I work
Jobs are handled on a freelance basis, with work charged by the hour. The cleint should have an idea of what he/she wants. Sometimes, I work up 3 comps to present different ideas, but usually, one is enough. If need be, I take and /or edit photos to make the piece work.
